Our mission: Helping Build American Indian Reservation Communities
Helping: Change can only come from within the communities by Tribal members and leaders.
Build: Change, grow, improve -- become what we want and can be.
American Indian: We are Americans living in freedom with America's opportunities
Reservation: On our lands, within our sovereignty.
Communities: Our people; our lives; our homes; our responsibility.

TGI helps Tribal members and Tribal leaders develop -- a government of the Indian people, by the Indian people and for the Indian people.

Our vision: Vibrant American Indian Reservation Communities

Our orientation: from the past -- for the future We are rooted in the past but we are not anchored by it. We honor, respect, cherish and protect our past and traditions. On this foundation, we build a world for today and tomorrow.

Arnold Toynbee once described the rise and fall of nations in terms of challenges and response. He said: a young nation is confronted with a challenge for which it finds a successful response. It then grows and prospers. But as time passes, the nature of the challenge changes. And if the nation continues to make the same, once-successful response to a new challenge, it inevitably suffers a decline and eventual failure.

We will make our destiny - bringing new responses to the new challenges we face - bringing the future we conceive into reality --- and built by individuals of character and strength.

We are non-partisan - for the free flow of ideas and implementation strategies. "It is amazing how much can be accomplished when it doesn't matter who gets the credit." Unknown, often quoted by Ronald Reagan.
